115.01 GTV VIN's

From Erik:

John, my D'Amico and Tabucchi book lists the following numbers for >2000 GT Veloce USA Tip 115.01.

1973 3021718 to 3022800
1974 3023001 to 3023900
From John:

D'Amico e Tabucchi, p.673:

2000 GT Veloce destinata agli U.S.A. Tipo 115.01

1972: da 3020001 a 3020951; da 3021501 a 3021717; 1973: da 3021718 a 3022800;
1974: da 3023001 a 3023900; 1975: da 3025901 a 3027089.

More on John Burrows' side than d'Amico & Tabucchi, there is an ARI "Vehicle
Identification List", revised October 1981, which lists starting production
dates along with model years, type numbers, and serial numbers...
For the U.S.A. 2000 GTV it gives 1972 MY starting production
November 1971 with 3020001, 1973 MY starting date September 1972 with >3021501,
and 1974 MY starting date January 1974. These numbers differ to some degree
from d'Amico & Tabucchi's, including there being no 1975; the cars listed in
d'A.& T. as built in 1975 were probably sold as 1974s, presumably to skirt DOT/EPA regulations.
The door plate on my (registered as)1974 GTV says it was built in October 1974. The cowl plate says it's a 115.01. The VIN is AR3025718, which falls somewhere between the 1974 and 1975 range on John's reference for USA cars.

Now I MUST find out how to trace the birth and formative years of my car -- was it a Euro delivery that was later imported to the USA? It does have the small round side marker lights, but those could have been added later. It is a Spica car and looks to have been from the start. The cams are 10548032001 cams from the Euro spec cars, but again could easily have been added later.

Maybe it came in through Canada or Mexico, and is some sort of 115.01 mutt. Of course, it could just be the result of marginal bookkeeping by Alfa, too.

The game is afoot!
