164 front end shake

Doug,
You may need new control arms or control arm bushings.  The 164's
suspension is relatively light just like most modern cars.  Just like
BMWs with similarly designed control arms, these are normal replacement
items.
 
Of course before changing anything out, I'd make sure that everything is
tight such as the wheels and steering rack bolts.  Also check other
steering components such as tie rod ends.
