Dugz frunt end shake

hi all,

help me troubleshoot my 164's front end shake, please... ;~) i'm pretty sure
it's not the wheels outta balance. if i'm cruising at, say 70-80, the front
end shakes, w/the steering wheel rapidly oscillating back-n-forth a half-inch
or so. as soon as i let off the gas, the shaking stops completely. at slower
speeds, say 40-50, the opposite may occur - actually getting smoother when
getting back on the throttle. sometimes it doesn't shake at all... any
clues?

thanks,

doug s.

Duggie,

I'll bet you lunch at Brunchery that you have a master cylinder beginning to
fail. Mine did this ad the front rotor starts to warp just so slightly from
getting hot from teh diagonal circuit beginning to lock.

That's one idea. Otherwise check the usual suspects, but especially the
condition of the a-arm bushings and other suspension joints. Sloppy parts may
cause an out of alignment situation under power which relaxes when coasting.

May sound weird, but I've seen both on various 164s that I have owned (7
total)

Have fun!
