164 rear spoiler removal

I need to remove the boot-lid (trunk) spoiler on my '92 164Q to have it
re-sprayed, but I'm having a problem.

- how are the outer spoiler supports attached to the car?

Also, has anyone come up with a solution for the weak boot-lid hinge
arrangement for 164 models with spoilers? My trunk lid is well out of
alignment.
