Swapping Rear Ends

...The car's not mine!  I have a Euro spec 69 1750 GTV. I believe it has
the non Limited Slip rear end and the 4.1 gearing. Is it a simple swap
to change it to a newer one with LS and lower gearing?  I am going to
start auto crossing the car, so I am checking out my options. Any
particular year I should look for or avoid?  Is it interchangeable with
the Spider?  Anyone in Toronto have an extra they would like to part
with?
