Distributors, 4 cylinder variety

The quickest way to break a distributor shaft is to install the oil pump 
and then tighten the bolts to specs!    To make the distributor shaft 
last  for the life of the car is to install the oil pump, tighten the 
bolts FINGER TIGHT and then rotate the engine through a bunch of 
revolutions THEN tighten the bolts to specs.   The pump is installed 
with the distributor in place with the rotor facing (radiator) #1 plug 
wire.  Adjust the pump to mate with the distributor at #1.  Good luck,
