Re: Milano Rear End clunk

The clunk is a symptom of old, worn out bushings, and has been noted in
many times on the digest in recent months.

Almost certainly (unless it has recently been replaced) the rear gearbox
bushing has deteriorated into a black goo... The two I've replaced had
at least 1/2" of play in them. The other culprit is the rear swaybar
end link bushings. Mine had all but evaporated. With a car this age
you should count on having to replace almost all the bushings. They
are pretty cheap (the most expensive being about $25 for the gearbox
mount) and readily availible. AlfaBill can supply several of the
bushings in polyurethane, a performance upgrade, but more importantly,
much easier to install thanks to their split design.

If you need specific instructions on how to replace them let me know and
I'll see if I can find my previous write-up... Anyone know what
happend to the Alfa Festy digest search engine?
