GTV6 fuel tank pressure

I did a half-hearted search on gtv6.org and didn't find what I was looking
for, so can someone set me straight on this question...
Why is it the gas tank builds up so much pressure?  I'm currently using a
naked gas cap (doesn't have the tri-spoke) and it is a solid piece, no vents
or anything.  The Braden bible mentions drilling a hole in the cap, but this
actually lets fuel _out_ and all over the car, so what's my issue here?
