a common problem with spiders is the clutch pedal linkage cracks and the
height of the pedal drops look at the pedal is it the same as the brake?  if
it is than the master cylinder could be leaking internally is there any play
in the pedal ie does it go down part way with little effort?  if the pedal
is high and hard there could be a problem with the fork that moves the throw
out bearing I have replaced a clutch hose that was defective and it swelled
up instead of moving the slave cyl. check these things also if you pump the
clutch does it get harder? and if you put the trans in 2nd or 3rd does the
motor slow down or car  try to move from a dead stop?
