2000 GTV questions

In V8 #551 Dean Mericas asks two questions. I'll pass on the first but:

"2) What's the original finish for lug nuts on turbina rims? I thought
they were some sort of gray coated finish, but I put one on the buffer
to clean it up and it came out looking like it was chromed."

************

Most all Turbinas I see on cars (I've seen a lot not mounted) have a
rather short (25 mm overall), concave end, silver zinc plated lug nut.
To muddy the water, when I purchased my Daytonas, they came with chrome
plated 38 mm, measured from the rounded end to the mounting surface.
When purchasing original type lug nuts from Jon Norman (along with
longer studs) in order to install Daytonas on a '69 Round-Tail, the lug
nuts were silver zinc plated and very slightly different than the one's
which came with my rims.

The zinc (possibly cad) finish on Alfa lug nuts is fairly sturdy and can
be buffed up to a nice gleam, but will dull back fairly soon.
