The description and diagram at http://web.raex.com/~volks/schem/wiper.htm will
be helpful. The Alfa wiper switch is weird and more complicated than it needs
to be, but it achieves the same thing as the simple one that is described for
a VW. The Alfa foot switch has a normally open and a normally closed contact.
The normally closed contact is in series with the fast circuit. When the
switch is pushed, it breaks the circuit to the fast winding and puts 12v on
the slow winding.
