GTV6 ignition question

Does anybody know what the "spark box" portion of the Bosch electronic
ignition on my 86 GTV6 does??  I have identified the pickup and the
vacuum advance capsule, as well as the coil and the "breakerless" point
unit, which leaves me to wonder: 1) where the mysterious "spark box" is,
and 2) what it does.  Can anybody help?
