Re: Spider rear spring spacers

I may be wrong, but I strongly suspect that Charlie Slayman and Jeffrey Olson
are talking about two quite different things when then say "coil boosers" and
"shims" (and that it may already be evident to Jeff - - ) There are, as
Charlie says, three different spring "spacers" or "shims" (English
translations vary in the parts books, but both are "Spessore" in Italian) for
use under the front springs (3.5 mm, 7 mm, 10.5 mm) and four for use over the
rear springs (6.5 mm, 11.5 mm, 16.5 mm, 21.5 mm) to adjust the ride height and
trim to stock specifications, but these are not items which would be obvious
unless one knew what they were and where to look. Jeffrey's "two coil boosters
added to each side" sound like the side-inserted camming-blocks used by
quick-and-dirty suspension "specialists" to spread coils, thereby compensating
for sagging springs.

If that is what they are, they are neither stock nor good, and should be
discarded; if the correct trim value (or an incorrect but desired one) can be
managed by changing the spacers, fine, but otherwise I believe it is time for
new springs.
