RE: Spider Vent Window Latch

Needed to do this on both my 84 and 88 Spiders. First one I did (88
Spider) I went down to the NAPA store and got a kit to reattach a
windshield mounted rear view mirror. This had two components, as I
recall. One was a tough plastic wrapped glass vial with a swab at the
one end. Crush the vial, scrub the area of the glass and the back of
latch. Wait a short bit, snip top off second unit, a small plastic
pouch, put a drop in the center of the latch, place on glass. I used a
squeeze clamp to hold it and left it till the next day. It been almost
three years and it's still there.

When I had to do this for the 84 (recently) I found a package that was
designed to reattach the rear window defroster metal tang that sometimes
comes off. Decided to try this as this was for the passenger's vent and
I can't always control how that vent gets closed. Same two part
approach, but the material in the second pouch was not clear as it was
for the rear view mirror repair kit. If I need to do this again I will
use the rear view mirror stuff.

Also, I never use the latch to pull the window shut, I push on the
leading edge to shut it, then latch it.

Hope this helps,
Paul Weimer

Anyone know what glue to use to reattach the vent window latches on a
Spider? Thanks.
