Euro BHP

My Euro 2000 engined cars with Webers have been rated at 131-132 bhp from the factory... that's DIN. I've read an article where a journo's confused SAE and DIN figures and reckoned a 1750 is more powerful than a 2000!
Articles over here (UK) about US cars often refer to them as being "strangled with anti-smog equipment." I've not driven a US-spec car on SPICA injection but I guess they go reasonably well - although road tests tend to show them as a little slower than their European cousins, (I was under the impression they turned out about 120 bhp DIN.)
A race-prep company I know has rolling-roaded many standard 2000 engined Alfas, even well-tuned cars, and they're usually lower on bhp than they "should be." When you measure the compression ratio it is lower than the listed factory spec...
One benefit of twin carbs is that great induction noise! Of course they cost a lot less to rebuild than a SPICA pump.
