brake question

Hello out there,
I have a 79 spider and a 82 gtv6, both of which failed the Texas inspection
this year due to the parking brake not holding the car nor locking in place
. Can yall give me a few pointers on how to trouble shoot these problems. I
am getting tired of hiding from the police in fear of them noticing the
absence of my current inspection sticker. HELP!!
