Barrett-Jackson @ Scottsdale, Az

BARRETT-JACKSON AUCTION, SCOTTSDALE, AZ
just for the digesti info, went to the "world's greatest international auto
auction" sat. hords of people, 4 choppers bringing in the hi-rollers. i go
every year and each one is bigger, slightly different in the cars offered and
more exciting that the ones before.
Crowds were thick, cool sunny sweater weather in the low 60's F.--typ AZ
january day.
ONE alfa: a '48 6-C 2500 ss, in need of attention, chrome deteroiated and
dented here and there, but still commanding attention. and what must be one of
the first center mounted stoplights on the bustle rear end--really an elegant
one-inch wide vertical slash of illuminated red [now orangish] plastic lens
inscribed with "Alfa Romeo". sold at no reserve for US $31,000. On ESPN, Alain
DeCadinet was asked about the rareity of the mark, he responded that Alfa
owners cherish and hold on to their cars for a long time and not many of these
cars are avail for sale.
The ESPN coverage wasn't bad--gives a pretty good pix of things in the
tent...but i like to see all the acres of cars outside for us poorer
collectors! it always amazes me at the variety, sprites, gorgeous bj8 healeys,
rolls, buick electra convertibles, on and on.
More custom hi -bucks hot rods and american iron than before. Ferraris did
well. B-J sold into the 80% numbers. [8% commission].
WOW, what a show! ev
