Re: SAABs
Forgive me for perpetuating an off-topic thread ...
The 2-stroke SAAB with two engines (one in the boot) was known as the
Monster; the Toads were a series of prototype SAAB 96's modified to take
the Ford V4 engine which they later adopted.
Sadly I have to agree with your earlier comments that modern SAABs
aren't as interesting as the older ones. My 9-5 is a great drive, but
doesn't feel the same as my old 9000. But the engine, as you suggest,
looks almost identical to that in my old 1973 99LE. Sure it's turned
the other way around, gained 300cc and a couple of balancer shafts, but
it's the same basic design.
