Re: 164S Totaled

There are a lot of folks on this digest who can help you get max value for
your car by doing some research.
I had a crash with my old GTV6 late last summer and I made out really good.
The Insurance company (Progressive) wanted to settle fast and they offered me
just a squeek under bluebook value ($3500) they then sold me the car-cass for
$200. This saved them all the problems involved in gettting rid of the
vehicle and this also left me with a clean title (no salvage title). I then
sold the whole wrinkled mess to a fellow (Alfa devoti) for double the
difference between their allowance for rust and age and the $200.
If you get a fair adjuster things can go really well.
That's what I learned.
I hope things go as well for you.

Sincerely,

Subject: 164S Totaled
I crashed my beloved 164S the day before .... Luckily I was ok.
However, after dealing, still dealing with the insurance company, I wish that
I had hit the other car, it would have made things simpler. The insurance
company declared my car totaled and will give me the market value sometime
next week.
So I have a question for any of you who've had this experience before; the
car
has $5K+ damage but it's reparable. I know that I can't afford to fix it now,
but I don't really want to give the insurance company my car
I would appreciate any advice...
