Vasco, sorry to hear about your collision. It has been my experience that insurance
companies (at least mine) will let you buy back the totaled vehicle for $500, maybe
less. Try to negotiate the settlement so that you can keep the car. The bad news: they
won't fully insure the car again until you provide proof that its been repaired.
