Re: Couple of questions about 1974 spider

Happy New Year, all! Since I gave up cable (and Speedvision), and my engine
stand hasn't arrived yet, I have far too much time to read the digest. Since
my list of NYR's didn't include "stop offering useless advice", I'll continue
to plague.

I'm a bodywork wimp, so I'd be looking for a shop to tackle that. I fear
there's welding involved, likely requiring MIG gear. For all its benefits and
the years my stepdad has spent trying to teach me, welding is still a black
art which I cannot grasp, best left to wizards and community college
teachers.

Stop the madness! Tell the Digesti where you live, and they'll give you the
name of a mechanic near you that knows SPICA. Or if you're into the greasy
finger thing, order Wes Ingram's SPICA book and tackle it y'self. Once it's
set up right, all you will have to do is change fuel and oil filters. Even if
your pump is trashed, I bet you can replace it cheaper than you'll find used
Webers and a manifold. If you're truly righteous you'll buy some jeweler's
rouge and polish the pump case so it looks like the treasure it is! (Sorry, I
may be biased..)

>3. Any advice/tips/tricks for a new spider owner? :)

Drive it really fast, and send lots of e-mail to Joe Cantrell and Scott
Fisher.

>4. Is 74 a good year for Spiders?

IMHO -- no bad year for Spiders, but then I don't have one yet, so that's
simply a reflection of my envy and ignorance!
