re: 115 GTV tire recommendations

Dean, in Ann Arbor, asks:

I've got ancient 185/70HR-14 Goodyear GTs on my 1974, and I'd like to
replace them using the same turbina wheels. There are not
many tires available in that size. Pirelli makes the P4000
SuperTouring, and Bridgestone and Yokohama also seem to have products
in that size.

Any first hand experience in these or other suitable tires?

Dean - You may want to consider 195/65 x 14 tires. The diameter should
be about the same at the 185/70, and you get a "little more', width,
contact patch, or what have you. You also get a better selection of
tires. Some sizes may be available in one size but not the other. You
can likely get cheaper (lower overall quality, too) in the 185/70, and a
selection of better tires in the 195/65 category. I think.

I also think you stock wheels would not be optimal for 205/60 x 14
tires. I did that, but I had wider wheels than the 5 1/2" stockers.

Go get 'em
