Good morning folks,
I finally got some time off, and am ready to reassemble the Frankenstein 
engine for Ratty, using a mix of pistons and liners from a pair of engines.
The liners came out looking pretty good after honing, and the pistons 
cleaned up well, BUT some of the unusable pistons (from each set) were 
complete trash, with cracked rings, missing lands, melted bits, etc...
The remaining set of 4 mixed pistons have the same serial number cast into 
the inner skirts, but slightly different casting details on the bottom of 
the wrist (gudgeon.. for our friends across the water) pin boss.
I plan on matching the pistons for weight and installing.. today.. unless 
someone can give me a really good reason, other than I'm mentally unstable, 
and should just bite the bullet and buy a new set of P&Ls (Like my friend 
and Alfa mentor Vince has already suggested...)
Have any of you done this? (successfully?)
The car is an 80 beater Spider saved fron the crusher which I'm trying to 
get running for the price of the gaskets and new rings.
What with marriage and parenthood, disposable income just ain't what it used 
to be...
I'll also be happy to make (reasonable) offers on a set (or 3, or 2, or 1) 
10.4 : 1 Motronic pistons, if any of you have any kicking around.
Premium paid for uncracked, unmelted examples.
