ARC for a Verde( Question )

 I  got up this morning and it was a brisk 25 degrees outside, now I was 
going to plug my radar into the cigarette lighter, when the lighter 
recepticle jiggle loose.  I went to push it back into place and then suddenly 
my ARC-computer ights started going off like Vegas Lights.  They haven't gone 
off since.  

Here's my question.  After disconnecting the computer readout or 'christmas 
tree' and having a look at the wiring I couldnt find any loose wires or 
disconnects.  What is going on?  Now I have a 2.5 liters ARC, can I replace 
the 3.0 's ARC, with the 2.5's, without doing any damage?
