Alfa 164 Body Cladding

Is the lower body cladding used on the 24 valve US-spec 164s interchangeable
with the body cladding on the earlier 12 valve cars?  Since the chrome
accent carries over to the bumpers, the bumpers may have to be changed as
well.  I prefer the looks of the later cars, but would rather have the
simplicity of a 12 valve motor.
