Re: Importing Alfas to the US

Hi Joseph,

My brother Nizam has a 164S motor in his 75. Complete with motronic EFI
and the plenum as well. It can and has been done. Actually I wouldn't
bother grinding the GTV6/Milano plenum, you can spend less them cutting
and welding the 164 plenum to fit. It's 1/8" wider. However there are
some details which I need some help with.

1-Can an L-Jetronic ECU drive motronic injector (high impedence)? I
think it can, but a Motronic ECU cannot drive the L-Jet injectors (low
impedence) as it will fry the ECU. It's just like an audi amp that
cannot drive low impedence speakers. You can actually find specs on
those amps saying that they are only stable downto 4-ohms.

2-I do not see a phenolic spacer between the 164 runners and the heads.
I know the GTV6/Milano have this. Interestingly enough a guy with a
Mazda MX-6 2.5 V6 24V bought some aftermarket phenolic spacer and said
it cooled his intake runners down and hot about 3-4 bhp. I think I can
shoehorn the phenolic spacer when using the 164 plenum as well, just
have to be a little creative.
