making pot-metal look nice

Hello group:

As long as I'm posting, here's another question.  What's the best way to 
make pot-metal (zinc alloy?) parts look nice, and stay that way?  I'm 
asking about complex castings, like Weber/Dellorto carb bodies that don't 
readily lend themselves to polishing.  Perhaps media blasting, then a thin 
nickel plating?  Other ideas?  Maybe powder coating or lacquering?  Thanks 
again.
