defrosting starts with <a three-wire band a third of the way up from the
rear deck, eventually clearing a stripe right <up the center of the glass.
It doesn't seem to do anything at all for the balance of the <glass. Any
know causes for this? Can it be corrected?

Along this line, I remember a product that used to be available from J.C.
Whitney for this problem.  It was a conductive copper paint used to paint
in the missing sections of the grid lines or wires on the rear window so
that the whole rear window would defrost.  Whitney no longer has it.  Does
anyone know where such a thing can be found or whether there's some other
alternative?
