164 hood stuck

Help. The hood on my 91 164S is stuck closed.  I can't get the
right side to release.  I am able to reach up and pull the
cable and even pull the pin a bit but it won't give.  I've
tried hitting the pin with a long steel rod and hammer while
the release lever is being pulled but it doesn't budge.

I have spent a lot of time pulling the cable, banking on the
hood and hitting the pin and it ain't budging.

Any ideas?
