re: GTV-6 Steering Rack

regarding yer steering rack troubles, before ewe decide that yer rack is dead, have ewe checked the clamps that hold it to the frame?  gtwe6's & milanos' racks are held to the frame w/two clamps & four bolts.  if these come loose, (and they are known to do so), the whole rack slides back-n-forth, & can give ewe somne of the symptoms ewe describe.  it's easy enuff to check, w/the front of the car in the air...

if, in fact, ya *do* need a rack, i heard there was someone who rebuilds these, but i dunno who/where they are.  (anybody?)  if ya have to buy a gnu rack, yule find only alfetta racks awailable - these are the same, except they have no damper, & the mounting points for the clamps are offset from the original rack.  no problem w/the mounting points, tho - yer gtwe6 will have 'em in the frame, adjacent to the ones used for the rack presently in the car.  i have an alfetta rack in *my* 3.0 gtwe6 - it works yust fine...
