GTV-6 steering rack

When the steering rack in my previous GTV-6 went out with symptoms similar
to those you describe, it didn't seem there were new or rebuilt racks
available for sale.  The one in the car was removed and sent out to be
rebuilt.  I woldn't drive the car in the condition you describe.  If you
can't find somewhere to have your rack rebuilt in your neighborhood (where
do you live, anyhow?), contact me off digest and I'll try to find where it
was done here in southern California.
