verde back running but fails emissions
Hello everyone- I posted about a week and a half ago about my Verde that cut
out on the interstate. I have the car back running. It turned out to be a
connecting wire that goes to the maf sensor was not grounded/connected
properly.
I took the car in for the new Massachusetts emissions test. They put the car
on a dyno and measure it that way. The car failed the test. I have gone
through the car pretty thoroughly but something must not be working right. I
have a new exhaust/convertors from the engine back, all new filters, and
tune-up parts. I failed the HC test and the CO test. The HC was 3.76 - with
a 2.0 limit. The CO was 128 - with a 30.0 limit. It did pass the NOX no
problem.
The car now is hunting a bit at idle and my friend who was following me home
mentioned that when I punched it a puff of white smoke came out the tailpipe.
The car has plenty of power, but I am just dying to pass this damn test.
If anyone has any suggestions I will gladly take them.
Also, if anyone knows of a good Alfa mechanic close to Westchester County,
NY. I was thinking of trying Alfas Unlimited in Norwalk, CT. Thanks a
million everyone- Cory 87 Verde
