Re:Lug Nuts



For what its worth, from my Brit cars days I learned that the wire wheel
knockoffs were left hand thread and right hand thread depending on which
side of the car they're on.  This seems to make more sense for a fastener
spinning in a single plane like a knockoff.  The force of the rotation could
loosen the knockoff.  Lugnuts aren't subject to the same forces as a
knockoff since they travel in a circle instead of rotating.  Maybe the right
hand thread lugnuts is a leftover bit of engineering.
