Re: Berlina vs Super Windshield (tedious)
In AD8-0002 Kevin Trent writes that he will bet that a Giulia Super windshield
will interchange with a glue-in Berlina windshield. I will take that bet, if
he means that the two glasses are dimensionally identical. My understanding is
that the gasketed windshield, gasket and trim will fit either hull and that a
glue-in windshield, spacer blocks and trim could be glued in either hull, but
that the glass is dimensionally different and a glue-in windshield cannot be
fitted with a gasket intended for a gasketed windshield and then installed.
The question whether "early Berlinas" used one windshield or the other is a
USA-only question. With both the Berlinas and the coupes the opening is the
same in USA cars and Europe cars, and I have seen no indication that either
body was ever fitted with glue-in windshields outside the USA.
It was probably a mistake to leave out the part numbers for the windshields
in my last post on the subject. They are:
105.41.61.504.00 lhd 1750, lhd 2000, lhd Nuova Super (main books)
105.49.61.504.00 rhd 1750, rhd 2000, rhd Nuova Super (main books)
105.41.61.504.03 1750 USA and Canada, (main 1750 book)
105.71.61.504.00 Sweden, in 1750 main book AND early USA in USA supplement
105.71.61.504.04 late USA 1750 and USA 2000 in USA supplement
105.12.61.504.10 lhd 2000 athermic green (2000 main book)
105.15.61.504.10 rhd 2000 athermic green (2000 main book)
105.12.61.504.50 optional athermic in Nuova Super book
The 105.08.53.115.00 gasket is used on all of the above except for the glued
ones.
A minor fly in the ointment is that the TI, TI Super, and Super book show a
105.14.61.504.00 windshield and 105.14.53.115.01 gasket, the 105.14 being the
column-shift TI and the 105.08 (of the other gaskets) being the later
floor-shift TI. BUT the Catalogo Rapido (which skips limited-market things
like rhd and glue-in) shows the 105.41.61.504.03 windshield and
105.08.53.115.00 gasket fitting all Giulia TI and Super variants and the 1750
and 2000 Berlinas.
