RE: Berlina alternator
I'm still using the original (or at least stock) alternator and had
been thinking about "upgrading" to a more modern/efficient/powerful
unit. in other words can i switch to a little tiny alternator, that
draws less horsepower, puts out more amps and mounts in the original
location/using the original wiring?? this would be kind of the
alternator equivalent of retrofitting a "late" spider starter. anyone know?

73 berlina
Hi Norm,
I have a '73 Gulia Super that i'm converting to a TwinSpark.
But before, on my old 1600 engine I swapped the alternator for one of a
75 (Milano). From what i've seen Alfa mostly used Bosch (maybee all of
them?).
All I had to do was swap them and remove one wire. The Milano alternator has
a built in voltage regulator. So I had no need for the external regulator
the old
alternator used and same thing for the wire.
Hope this helps you a bit.
Geetz,
Timo
