Berlina alternator

	I'm still using the original (or at least stock) alternator and had
been thinking about "upgrading" to a more modern/efficient/powerful
unit. in other words can i switch to a little tiny alternator, that
draws less horsepower, puts out more amps and mounts in the original
location/using the original wiring?? this would be kind  of the
alternator equivalent of retrofitting a "late" spider starter. anyone know?
