Fire Extinguishers

I have to install a fire extinguisher in my 71 GTV for an upcoming Alfa Club
track event.  Does anyone have any recommendations as to which extinguisher
to use, where they bought it, and where it was installed in the car?  My GTV
is a road car and I want to mount the canister someplace relatively out of
the way.  Would laying down in front of the passenger seat work?
