Speeding on I-5

I'm suprised to see so many admonishments about speeding on I-5.  I've made the
trip from LA to SF in my old BMW numerous times and can probably count the
amount of cops I've seen on one hand.  Of course, the BMW had bad tires and
wouldn't go above 80 without the entire car vibrating and shuddering.  I'm
considering taking 101 up to Sonoma and stop by Hearst Castle.  Thoughts on 101,
anyone?

I-15 out to Las Vegas/Death Valley is a dream.  Once you pass Barstow, that
straight two lane road is a leap frogger's paradise.  I usually rent a Mustang
5.0 to venture out into the 100+ degree climate, and I've easily reached 120 mph
in that car on that road.  Lightweight, typical American interior, but
impressive speed on those new Mustangs.  Not that I'd ever own one now.  ;)
