Re: GTV bumper repair/replacement

Those stainless steel GTV bumpers are indeed becoming rare items. If they
were going onto a Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, I suspect that there would be
handmade replacements available, but for a twelve thousand dollar car like a
GTV 2000, it doesn't make economic sense. There is, however a solution.
I have had a total of four stainless steel bumpers repaired and polished by a
company here in Los Angeles. While their main business is doing plating for
the restoration of those great old thirties classic cars such as Deusenberg
and Packard, (Jay Leno uses their services, and their work has won many an
award at Pebble Beach) they also do quite an excellent job on our more
mundane Alfa Romeo stainless bumpers.
Mine had a few dents in them along with the usual "waviness," and they when
they were finished, they looked as good or even better than new! The cost?
About $300 apiece, which may run a little more depending upon condition, but
well worth the expense.
The company's name is Christensen Plating, 2455 E. 52nd, Los Angeles, CA
90058. Telephone (323) 585-8730
Usual disclaimer, here. Just an extremely satisfied customer. BTW, when I got
the last set polished, they were feverishly working to get a huge amount of
last minute work done in time for Pebble Beach, but they did their very best
in accommodating my little job. Can't ask for more than that.

Hope this is of help.
