'88 Spider Handbrake Boot Mystery Solved

Fot those of you who might be replacing the handbrake boot on a late Series 3 Spider, the U-shaped metal bracket on the underside of the center console that holds the boot in place is riveted to the console.

I removed the rivet heads with a cut-off tool (Dremel Moto-Tool), thus freeing the bracket and the old boot (which was "sandwiched" between the bracket and center console). To reinstall, I plan to drill new holes through the bracket(the old holes in the console still have rivet remnants in them), and attach the bracket and boot to the console using small wood screws. If anyone has a better method of reattachment, please let me know. Thanks.
