Alfa wanted

My son is ready for his first Spider. Looking for a 70's era car in
reasonable shape. Can spend up to $4000, for a decent car, preferably in
the upper midwest. Anyone know of an available ragtop? We found a '74,
pretty in green with Panasports, that is fast but needs lots of little
things fixed like suspension bushings, window regulator, tires, blower
switch, inner shift boot, a sump guard smashed aginst the oilpan, etc.
including a rusty floorpan. May be more of a project than we really want,
or just a neglected car in need of a good home. Half full or half empty?
What would you think?
