Charlie - in Masstachusetts, people (not me of course) speak Bahstahn 
American English.  The classic "pahk ya cah in hahavahd yaahd" is followed by 
"ride the T to Reveeah wheah everythin is wicked pissah."
It varies of course by region.  My wife is a cape cod swamp yankee, I usually 
need to use the "universal translator" about 2 or 3 times a night.
