Mozart

I missed the start of the Mozart thread but have something to add. John
is a major car collector in the mid-California SF bay area. He has
owned a black 2.9 Spider for a number of years and is a serious Bugatti
owner. Never heard of any vintage racing activity however. Incredibly
beautiful cars all.

I had the awesome task of judging the 2.9 and Alfa competition class at
the '98 Torrey Pines Concours d' Elegance. On my team were Phil Hill
and Pat Braden - I was the one with the clipboard. Mr. Mozart's 2Nine
won best in class - we had 9-2.9s I think, including Phil's original
Pebble Beach road race Spider which at the time was also his daily
driver.

As part of the judging process the cars must be started and all
accessories shown to be operational. Anyhoo, Mr. Mozart did not know
how to operate the 2.9s windshield wipers but Mr. Hill gave a seminar
and they did in fact work. I also learned the secret of how to start a
2.9 without the car's key.

Happy days,

Dave
