Please don't use Volvo and Ford as an example.
As far as any "life" breathed into Volvo by Ford: the takeover
was in the 1st quarter of 1999. All the current U.S.
"market-competitive" FWD Volvo lineup was pre-Ford.
But the desperately needed Ford Taurus replacement project
slipped to 2005. Ford found a better platform in their
stable: the 1999 Volvo S80. It turns out it's *Volvo*
breathing some life into *Ford*, not the other way around.

P.S. GM completed the full purchase of Saab in Jan.2000.
