Alfa's Return to USA

Interesting news in the UK today that BMW are probobly looking to sell off
it's Rover subsidiary. On the face of it, nothing very startling in that,
except that a couple of weeks ago, an article in the UK Autocar magazine was
commenting on GM's desire to purchase BMW, including Land Rover but not the
rest of the Rover group (MG, Mini, Rover).

The article went on to say that the industries leading , and biggest
players, all agree that eventually only be half a dozen , giant, car makers
will exist in the world. Their identities are now pretty clear: GM,
Daimler-Chrysler, Toyota, Ford, VW Group and Renault.

This is another way of saying that BMW, Fiat-Alfa-Lancia, Peugeot-Citreon
and Porsche could soon have new owners (not to mention the Pacific rim folks
like Daewoo etc).

Makes you wonder whether Ford will try for Alfa again, like they did in the
'80's, untill the Agnelli family stepped in to stop the deal. With the
Agnelli family somewhat weaker now, perhaps you'll soon be able to buy and
service your new Alfa from the local Ford shop...................

An Alfa dealer in every town? Like I say, makes you wonder

Ciao,

Ian
