Alfa in the U.S.

I guess I resemble Doug's remark about reading the list and rarely postin=
g to
it. I for one would welcome Alfa'a return, as my wife won't drive the GTV=
6. So
I could use that as an excuse for a 156 Selspeed. Or a new Spider. But I =
think
our chances are very small unless someone buys Fiat. Not only do they hav=
e the
issue of restablishing the make (the insurance person I use is in her mid=

twenties and had never heard of them), but from something I heard they st=
ill
are bound by the old deal with the dealers. Something about 7 year contra=
cts
and the strength of franchise law as I remember it.

I think if Daewoo can establish a U.S. presence, Fiat could if they cared=
=2E I
just don't think they care one bit about overlooking our market. It shows=
 in
their profitiablity, but they don't seem to mind that either. Oddly enoug=
h the
Germans may be our best hope for ever seeing a new Italian car here.

Oh by the way did anyone else watch the Ferrari show in Australia :-)
