Wife's car (Alfa content, eventually)

When I first met my wife, she was on her second BMW
2002, and I still had my first Alfa, a '74 Berlina
2000. She maintained her car very carefully (having
been properly brought up!); though she did only
body-maintenance stuff herself, she took it in for oil
changes and other scheduled items strictly by the
book.

We lost that car against the side of a Jeep that was
suddenly where it shouldn't have been, and the next
one was demolished by someone running a stop light. At
this point, her BMW guy told her he didn't want to
find her another 2002, nor did he want to work on them
any more, and told her to get a 3-series instead.
Tania despises the 3-series cars as effete, yuppified
imitations of their simple, honest ancestor, and so it
was that she came to try on a Milano. She adored it.
The trial car was a Platinum in shaky condition, for
'way too much money, so she had me call Spruell's shop
to see if they had one. They did, we flew down to
Atlanta and drove it back, and she's still in love
with it, leaky steering, saggy headliner and all.

I should have noted, by the way, that I knew my love
for this woman was utterly justified when I looked
into the 2002's immaculate trunk for the first time
and saw there, neatly coiled, a set of premium-grade
jumper cables...
