Top down, hit my soccer mom in SUV, wife's car and 7 lane highway

Hi all.

First: I am now moved into the new office. Notice new contact information.

Second: A 7 lane highway???? The passing lane must be thrilling if not
actually terrifying.

Third: I always leave my top down because thieves will cut through the top
to break into the car, but I lock my glove box because the door is slightly
warped and I want a new one :-) . Vandals will do the same for fun, so
decide which is in worse shape. i.e. New top and old upholstery, leave the
top down. Old top and new upholstery, leave the top up.

While in a restaurant having supper with a friend and leaving the spider
outside with the top down our waitress came over a commented on the downpour
outside. "Rain?" I asked, "Yes" she said, "the skies just opened up about
half an hour ago." It was raining so hard I couldn't tell if the rain was
going up or down. "Oh well" I thought, "once the water level in the car
reaches the top of the doors it can not hold any more" so I didn't bother
running out and putting up the top. After the enjoyable dinner I went to
inspect the damage and someone had put my top up. It wasn't latched but the
interior was only damp, not overflowing. Moral of the story is that there
are still some nice and considerate people out there (that was in London
Ontario).

Fourth: Soccer mom smacks into your Alfa and insurance company tries to rip
you off. GET AN APPRAISAL NOW BEFORE THE BLIND BAT OUT OF HELL HITS YOU!
Insurance companies are obliged to pay what the car is worth and an
appraisal by a recognized appraiser is worth its weight in high-priced
lawyers. Get your insurance company to recommend a couple of appraisers and
choose the one you want.

Fifth: Wife's car. I don't know what this means to other people, but in our
household it means that husband is responsible for maintenance because wife
believes that once one has paid for the car there should be no other
expenses. She even resents having to put gas in it. I gave up on trying to
force she-who-must-be-loved-and-obeyed to do her own maintenance after
pushing her motorcycle miles due to a broken chain as the result of lack of
chain oil (twice).
