Going Metric

On the subject of the US going to the metric system:

You know this was last tried back in the late 70's. The best example would
be gas stations. There were those who eagerly embraced it, having their
pumps converted to readout in liters, only to find customers (myself
included) going across the street where gas was still sold by the US gallon.
So, to appease the customer they posted conversion charts, followed later by
dual readout pumps and finally they just gave up.

The only possible outcome of the government mandating a switch to metric is
that the government and all government funded projects will be metric while
the people will still use feet, pounds, gallons and of course, mph.
