stopping piston travel and thanks Bernie

Rather than put the piston crown and the spark plug threads at risk I
would sooner use the alternative of dropping a length of rope into the
cylinder via the plug hole, first making Absolutely sure that the piston
is rising in the compression stroke. As it traveled towards TDC the
crown of the piston would meet the soft resistance of the mass of rope
or cord jeopardising neither the the piston crown nor the plug hole.
Of course for safety's sake put a large knot in the end closest to you
so as to not lose the entire length within the cylinder. If you did not
confirm both valves to be closed (compression stroke) you could bend a
valve

Bernie,

Thanks for the info on the radio. It works as you describe.
